They are such a rare treat almost anywhere in the world, I think. <BR/><BR/>Susan: I so agree with you, and I try to support any producer who is trying to maintain or reintroduce some diversity. I'm terrified at the thought of everyone eating the same tomatoes or apples!Rosahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12010394263374216145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5928754436992490761.post-12971975155411026502007-06-21T23:28:00.000+00:002007-06-21T23:28:00.000+00:00Rosa, you are so right about the old varieties. Sure, they have no shelf life, but the flavor and the funky names make them worth the extra cash.Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14970742141705361136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5928754436992490761.post-85393983390021282132007-06-21T17:13:00.000+00:002007-06-21T17:13:00.000+00:00I'm as envious as Stephanie. It's too cold to grow them locally and they are one fruit that really doesn't travel well. :(<BR/>Enjoy!Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07157804056370219398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5928754436992490761.post-9089869213484254222007-06-21T16:17:00.000+00:002007-06-21T16:17:00.000+00:00It's true, we do have amazing produce here (partic...It's true, we do have amazing produce here (particularly in the south of France), but while yours is getting better, ours may be deteriorating as few young people want to become small farmers these days. I'm so envious at what you find at your markets ... we have great markets in Melbourne, and people bang on about how good our produce is, but when I see pictures of what you and Clotilde at Chocolate & Zucchini gets at French markets, and what Californian bloggers get at their farmers markets, I realise that the fresh produce at our markets really isn't that special. I can't remember the Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
